    The Importance of Water

Water is essential for every function in your body. Discover why proper hydration is a cornerstone of good health.

    Why Water Matters

Your body is approximately 60% water. Every cell, tissue, and organ needs water to function properly. Water helps transport nutrients, remove waste, regulate temperature, and cushion your joints and spinal discs.

Dehydration can cause headaches, fatigue, muscle cramps, decreased cognitive function, and even contribute to spinal problems. Your intervertebral discs rely on adequate hydration to maintain their shock-absorbing properties.

How Much Water Do You Need?

    The Simple Formula:

Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water daily.

For example, if you weigh 160 pounds, aim for at least 80 ounces (about 10 cups) of water each day. Increase this amount if you exercise, spend time outdoors, or consume caffeine.

    Signs of Dehydration

    • Thirst (by the time you feel thirsty, you're already dehydrated)
    • Dark yellow urine
    • Fatigue and low energy
    • Headaches
    • Dizziness or lightheadedness
    • Dry mouth and skin
    • Muscle cramps
    • Difficulty concentrating

    Tips for Staying Hydrated

    • Start your day with a full glass of water
    • Carry a reusable water bottle with you
    • Set reminders to drink water throughout the day
    • Drink a glass of water before each meal
    • Eat water-rich fruits and vegetables
    • Replace sugary drinks with water
